Anteros, Norwich Workshops

At Anteros (11-15 Fye Bridge St, Norwich NR3 1LJ), I am running a selection of fun and unique, practical art history workshops.
These workshops include handouts on the artist or art movement you are exploring, plus a mini lecture and then a practical artistic exercise, allowing you to delve deeper into the creative art history experience.  
The workshops run once a month (Saturdays - 10.30 am - 1.00 pm), and all materials are included in the cost.

The workshops are suitable for all abilities and aim to help students learn new skills, techniques and knowledge in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

Hands-on Art History:
Art at the Moulin Rouge (Soft pastels)

Sunday 25th January | 10:30 am – 1:00 pm (price includes all materials)


Step into the dazzling world of 19th-century Parisian cabaret and discover the vibrant characters, stories, and scenery that inspired Toulouse-Lautrec and his contemporaries. This art history workshop blends visual storytelling with hands-on creativity: after exploring the era’s iconic imagery, you’ll create your own soft pastel interpretation of a Moulin Rouge scene. Expressive Drawing Experience (Charcoal, Ink and Pencil) £40 pp

Sunday 22nd February | 10:30 am – 1:00 pm (price includes all materials)

Loosen up your lines and embrace the freedom of expressive mark-making. This dynamic workshop dives into the early 20th-century movement that challenged traditional drawing and celebrated emotion, spontaneity, and symbolism. Through charcoal, graphite, and ink, you’ll explore experimental techniques that invite risk and play. Perfect for anyone looking to reconnect with their creative instincts and discover new ways of seeing and making.

Cubism Still Life (Collage and Acrylics)

Sunday 22nd March | 10:30 am – 1:00 pm (price includes all materials)

Unpack the bold, fragmented beauty of Cubism—the first abstract art movement of the 20th century. Inspired by the works of Picasso, Braque, Cezanne, and Léger, this workshop invites you to explore unconventional approaches to space, pattern, and composition. You’ll create your own collage or painting that reimagines still life through a Cubist lens. A playful, thought-provoking session for all abilities.

Impressionism Landscape (Oil painting) £45 pp

Sunday 19th April | 10:30 am – 1:00 pm (price includes all materials)

Step into the shimmering world of Impressionism, one of the most transformative movements in art history. Discover how artists like Pissarro, Monet, and Degas captured fleeting moments with radical colour theories and expressive mark-making. Explore the social and cultural shifts that shaped their vision, then create your own impressionist landscape using soft tonal contrasts and lively brushwork. A joyful, immersive session—open to all abilities.

Pop Goes Art (Acrylic) £45 pp

Sunday 24th May | 10:30 am – 1:00 pm (price includes all materials)

Bold, brash, and brilliantly iconic—Pop Art exploded into the cultural landscape, challenging the boundaries between fine art and mass media. In this workshop, you’ll explore the work of Warhol, Lichtenstein, and Rauschenberg, then create your own consumer-inspired artwork using vivid colour, pattern, and symbolism. A playful dive into the art of rebellion and reflection. Suitable for all abilities.

Hands-on Art History:
A Wild Fauvist colour celebration. (Acrylics and Oil Pastels) £45 pp

Sunday 21st June | 10:30 am – 1:00 pm (price includes all materials)

Celebrate the fearless spirit of Fauvism, where colour reigns supreme. Inspired by Matisse, Braque, and Derain, this workshop explores the movement’s radical use of flat patterns and expressive brushwork—techniques that paved the way for Cubism and influenced artists like Van Gogh. After examining the ideologies and artworks that shocked the art world, you’ll create your own Fauvist-inspired piece bursting with energy and emotion. All welcome.

Anteros workshops are suitable for all abilities and are designed to fit around your life, passions, and curiosity. The current sessions aim to build contextual knowledge across multiple art history movements, themes and artists. In doing so, students are encouraged to get their hands dirty and experience the core drawing and painting skills across multiple media/techniques.

All Anteros workshops are standalone sessions, which means you do not need to sign up for the set but can pick and choose which ones ignite your curiosity.

A personalised approach and project demonstrations

These workshops are designed for beginners to intermediate skill sets, providing introductory demonstrations as well as having small classes so that students can have lots of one-to-one interaction.

If you are more advanced and want to be pushed out of your comfort zone, please let Kimberley know, and she will aim to adjust the session to find your perfect working level.

All materials are included in the price

If you worry about materials or buying the correct brushes, then these classes will give you peace of mind.
In Anteros workshops, all materials are included within the workshop cost, so all you have to do is turn up with your apron!

What age groups are the art classes for?

My classes are generally for adults over the age of 18 years. However, I have taught younger building young artists, and I am always willing to discuss unique circumstances, ensuring everyone can explore their creative potential.
I have a DBS via the college and public liability insurance through AN.
My Anteros (Norwich) workshops are happy to take younger artists.

What materials do I need to bring?

This depends upon the workshop or course you wish to book:

  • Anteros (Norwich) workshops include all materials in the cost.

  • For Silver Road (Norwich) workshops, a suggested materials list is provided upon inquiry/booking.
    Materials can be included for an additional fee upon booking.

  • East Coast College courses include specialist materials, but you will also be given a list upon acceptance of the course place.

Can I join a class if I'm a beginner?

Absolutely! The classes cater to all skill levels, and I encourage beginners to join; no previous knowledge or experience is required or expected. Every project is created to help you build key skills supporting further progression and development.

  • Silver Road are booked via contacting me, email is preferred.

  • East Coast College is on condition that further details. Apply via their website (please see link below). 

Payment and cancellation?

When booking a place, I always send out Terms and Conditions. These outline your cancellation options and provides general information about the classes before completion of any payments.

Payment for your space is simple and done via an email invoice, which takes cards and Bacs. If you are concerned about using the email payment options, I am happy to offer alternatives.

Is there FREE Parking nearby?

This depends upon the workshop or course you wish to book:

  • The Silver Road Community Centre workshops in Norwich include free parking.

  • East Coast College, Lowestoft has its own car park.

  • Anteros in Norwich does NOT have free parking.
