Silver Road, Norwich Workshops

I teach an assortment of Adult courses/workshops at Silver Road Community Centre, 36 Silver Road (NR3 4TB), Norwich, Norfolk.
They are designed for Adults and run on Sunday afternoons (1-3.30 pm), each one is suitable for all abilities.
The workshops below aim to help students learn new skills, techniques and knowledge in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

Expressive Norfolk landscapes:
(Oil pastels & ink) £25 pp

15th February 2026 | 1.00 pm - 3.30 pm

Have you always wanted to become more loose and free within your work? This workshop aims to use simple techniques to make your work expressive and atmospheric. Starting in Ink, students will use spray bottles and toothbrushes to create patterns, textures and bleeds. Then, formal drawing in Oil pastels will be introduced to help students build structure and form into the artworks. Resulting in exciting and contemporary artworks.
Please note that materials are not included in the workshop fee; a list of suggested materials will be emailed upon confirmation of booking.
The art classes are open to all abilities and levels of experience.

Celebrity Portrait drawing

(Pencil) £20 pp
15th March 2026| 1.00 pm - 3.30 pm

A classical portrait tutorial that aims to help students learn about facial proportions and expand their knowledge of facial planes.
The techniques will support accurate representation and a sensitivity to tonal contrast, resulting in realistic artworks.

Tropical Birds

(Collage & Acrylics) £25 pp
12th April 2026 | 1.00 pm - 3.30 pm

A contemporary workshop which explores and investigates how collage can be used in conjunction with acrylic paint to form exotic and imaginative bird artworks. Playing with patterns, marks and colour this workshop will bring imagination and problem-solving into your creative focus.

Botanical Drawing

(Watercolours) £25 pp

Fruit and Vegetables Still Life

(Acrylics & Oils) £25 pp
14th June 2026 | 1.00 pm - 3.30 pm

A great workshop which uses acrylics to under-paint a still life, which allows for a non-solvent chemical approach to oil painting. This workshop teaches a safe and practical approach to oil painting by combining it with acrylics. Allowing for everyone to participate and learn all about using oil painting, resulting in rich, colourful and dynamic artworks, students will love to create.

All Silver Road workshops are designed for complete beginners, providing introductory demonstrations as well as having small classes so that students can have lots of one-to-one interaction. However, if you are more advanced and want to be pushed out of your comfort zone, these one-off workshops are designed to be flexible and allow adjustment to find your perfect working level.

Great Accessibility

Silver Road Community Centre comes with nearby free car parking and a ground-floor space (no steps). Making access easy and available for all, if you visiting Norwich and don't want to carry your art box too far, this could be the perfect location for you.

What age groups are the art classes for?

My classes are generally for adults over the age of 18 years. However, I have taught younger building young artists, and I am always willing to discuss unique circumstances, ensuring everyone can explore their creative potential.
I have a DBS via the college and public liability insurance through AN.
My Anteros (Norwich) workshops are happy to take younger artists.

What materials do I need to bring?

This depends upon the workshop or course you wish to book:

  • Anteros (Norwich) workshops include all materials in the cost.

  • For Silver Road (Norwich) workshops, a suggested materials list is provided upon inquiry/booking.
    Materials can be included for an additional fee upon booking.

  • East Coast College courses include specialist materials, but you will also be given a list upon acceptance of the course place.

Can I join a class if I'm a beginner?

Absolutely! The classes cater to all skill levels, and I encourage beginners to join; no previous knowledge or experience is required or expected. Every project is created to help you build key skills supporting further progression and development.

How can I book a place?

I can take your booking or direct you to the correct website page.

  • Anteros are booked via their website (please see link below).

  • Silver Road are booked via contacting me, email is preferred.

  • East Coast College is on condition that further details. Apply via their website (please see link below). 

Payment and cancellation?

When booking a place, I always send out Terms and Conditions. These outline your cancellation options and provides general information about the classes before completion of any payments.

Payment for your space is simple and done via an email invoice, which takes cards and Bacs. If you are concerned about using the email payment options, I am happy to offer alternatives.

Is there FREE Parking nearby?

This depends upon the workshop or course you wish to book:

  • The Silver Road Community Centre workshops in Norwich include free parking.

  • East Coast College, Lowestoft has its own car park.

  • Anteros in Norwich does NOT have free parking.
